SARRANT
From the air, the medieval village of Sarrant looks like a snail's shell wrapped tightly around its 15th-century church.
A 14th-century fortified gateway leads through the narrow streets of this charming village, which has been awarded the “Most Beautiful Villages in France” label.
A stopover in Roman times for traders and legions travelling between Toulouse and Lectoure, Sarrant has preserved its ramparts and special layout intact.
Let yourself be charmed by its brightly-coloured half-timbered houses, some of which are built into the ramparts, its gateway, its medieval garden and its church of St Vincent.
Since 2017, Sarrant has also been the village of illustration, with its exhibitions (Maison de l'Illustration, the chapel) and workshops (illumination, writing, etc.).
In fact, the Estivales de l'illustration de Sarrant has expanded and offers craftspeople, artists and people who love the village the chance to develop their business by setting up shop in Sarrant.
